Mission
Haus of Khameleon is a dedicated social justice organization that passionately focuses on ending discrimination and violence against transgender individuals. We achieve this through comprehensive education and proactive advocacy on a range of national, regional, and global issues that hold significant importance for transgender people. By empowering both transgender individuals and our supportive allies, Haus of Khameleon helps to educate and influence policymakers and others in positions of power. This endeavor facilitates a strong and clearly articulated voice for transgender equality in Fiji and throughout the Pacific region.
ABOUT
Haus of Khameleon (HK) is a powerful and transformative movement that is passionately led by a diverse and vibrant group of young transgender women who are deeply committed to lobbying, campaigning, organizing, researching, training, and advocating tirelessly for the cause of transgender equality not just in Fiji, but also across the wider Pacific region. The crucial work of Haus of Khameleon is thoughtfully framed around feminist principles, employing both human rights-based and evidence-based approaches to comprehensively address a range of trans-related issues that extend beyond merely focusing on gender-based violence. These issues include, but are not limited to, ensuring access to trans-friendly services and essential resources, advocating for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), enhancing peace and security, legal recognition of gender, as well as fundamental areas such as housing, employment, ecological justice, and good governance. One of the core focuses of HK involves the important and necessary task of thoroughly documenting and reporting on incidents of trans-specific violence. HK spearheaded Fiji's inaugural research project aimed at investigating the sexual and gender-based violence experienced specifically by transgender individuals and non-gender conforming individuals. The organization is guided by a dedicated and passionate team of young trans feminists who actively strive to push boundaries and work toward reconstructing and challenging the prevailing heteronormative binaries that are commonly found in society.
